Education

Graduated from Physical faculty of Tbilisi  State University,  1972

Candidate degree in Physics and Mathematics, 1986 [Tbilisi]

Doctor degree in Physics and Mathematics, 1996 [Moscow]

Professional activity

1969 to present - experimental and theoretical research in engineer seismology, earthquake engineering, seismic microzonation, geophysics, physics of heterogeneous media, physical nonlinearity of soils, seismic hazard and seismic risk assessment.

120 scientific publications, including 4 monographs, 16 patents of Russian Federation.

Principal investigator (PI) of  Georgia-INTAS project (seismic risk  and hazard asssessment).

Director of project EVRAZIA found (insurance in earthquake engineering)

co-director NATO-project (seismic risk management of big cities of Caucasus)           

Participated in 50 research projects  seismic hazard assessment (seismic microzoation of territories of cities and build sites of  industrial, responsible objects, reservoirs, etc.), statical and dynamical investigation of structures in Georgia and abroad (Tbilisi, Sukhumi, Sochi, Karachaevsk  etc.)

In 1996 head of expedition for seismic hazard assessment of Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Station territory (Russia).

Member of professional societies

Georgian Geophysical Society,  since 1993

Russian Associtation of Earthquake Earthquake, since 1999
